Stew Chisam, the President of Hi-Rez, stated in a Tweet that the game has been put on hold so that the development team can focus better on SMITE Tactics:
It remains to be seen whether the phrase “on hold” means that the game has been outright cancelled, or if the development team is just waiting for SMITE Tactics to be finished. It’s unclear how much of the game was completed before being put “on hold”, and even more unclear how much more needed to be done to it for it to be released. Only time will tell now.
