It has been over two years since Rebellion released Sniper Elite 4, the company’s BAFTA-nominated stealth shooter, and some fans are certain to be excitedly awaiting a followup. Fortunately for these players, a recent announcement from the studio has not only confirmed that Sniper Elite 5 is on the horizon, but that three other Sniper Elite projects are in the works as well.

The first of these projects is Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, the “visually definitive version” of the 2012 tactical shooter, and it is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One in 2019. This remaster will feature improved graphics, 4K resolution and HDR support, and enhanced content, ranging from additional playable characters to an expanded multiplayer mode that will allow up to 16 players to compete online.

Additionally, fans of the series can look forward to the Switch release of Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition in 2019, which will include the base game and all of its post-launch content. The Ultimate Edition will also support Switch-exclusive local wireless multiplayer and utilize the console’s motion controls.

While these two titles are all that Sniper Elite fans can expect to play this year, Rebellion has promised details on a third project before the close of 2019 — a project that the company has revealed as a “new, standalone Sniper Elite game for VR devices.” It has additionally been noted that this VR title is being developed in collaboration with Just Add Water, a British studio known for its work on Oddworld.

Finally, the announcement that is likely to be the most exciting of the bunch is that players can look forward to receiving details on the “upcoming mainline Sniper Elite game” in 2020. This is to be Sniper Elite 5, which Rebellion describes as “the next major title in the Sniper Elite series.”

Indeed, it seems that fans of stealth shooters in general, and Sniper Elite in particular, have a lot to look forward to. While some may be disappointed that details on Sniper Elite 5 are still a year away, there will certainly be many opportunities for tactical assassinations across the other three projects to occupy them in the meantime, not to mention Sniper Elite 4.
