With the Wii U’s capabilities, players also wondered what kind of multi-player options this new Sonic title would feature. After all, the fast-paced classic co-op mode is something we’ve come to expect.

Yesterday, producer Takashi Iizuka announced that the game will have both co-op and versus multi-player options… just not all the options on the Wii U.

But, there’s a little hitch.

Granted, not having to look at a split screen is a nice innovation and takes advantage of the Wii U GamePad, but are SEGA and Nintendo doing Sonic a disservice by keeping it contained to the same couch?

The 3DS, however, can have up to 4-player versus over local Wi-Fi and the internet. And this is a first for the 3DS.

It was not indicated as to why SEGA made this decision.
