AV is a modern day Metrovania title – a scrolling action-adventure foray. By design, these games often have you traversing a large map sprinkled with danger, upgrades, challenges, and explosions. AV in particular takes a few nods and homages to the classics (in particular Super Metroid). Upon its original release, it scored very well.
As seen by our own review, the game’s notable features include familiarity with the genre and how it all comes together to stay fresh. Since its release, it went on to be considered one of the best rated PlayStation 4 titles by the end of 2015.
Axiom Verge will be releasing for the Vita first, and the Wii U and Xbox One ports will follow this year.
